Feeling humbled

Late on Thursday night I was walking home from the downtown area, it was late as I was out celebrating a friends acceptance into a university program she's been dying to get into.

At some point during my walk, I believe that my wallet slipped out of my jacket pocket and onto the sidewalk somewhere. Of course I did not notice the disappearance of my wallet until later in the morning when I finally decided to make my way out of bed to get a coffee. I was in quite a great deal of panic seeing as my wallet contained many important documents and some cash.

I searched my yard and even re-walked most of my steps back towards downtown. Nothing was found.

Later in the afternoon, when I had honestly given up all hope, my neighbour came to my door with my wallet, telling me that a man had tried to drop it off with her as we share a similar address. She directed him to my house, where I was either still sleeping or already on my journey to look for my wallet.

Anyway, long story short, he left my wallet with my neighbour. She did not catch his name unfortunately. When I received my wallet everything was in tact.

So I guess why I am here today writing to you is that I really would like to thank this man, whoever he is. For being such a great citizen and returning my wallet in one piece. Not only did it make my Easter weekend, but it also has humbled me knowing that there are still great people out there.

Thanks so much.
