I have a beef with the bus driver of bus number 7 around 3:20 in the afternoon, Saturday May 14, 2004. He was turning left onto Ellis street off of Doyle. I was crossing the street with the green light going west to the arena. He came up to within a two feet of me before stopping to let me cross.
After I was past him, he opened his doors and yelled that I shouldn't have been crossing when the red hand signal was up. The light had turned green right as I walked up to it, before I could push the walk button. I live here and have crossed this street numerous times on the way to hockey games before and never had any problems with rude drivers.
When I left the game there was a transit employee manually changing the light when it came our turn to walk, the red hand did not change and he didn't yell at anybody.
With thousands of people in town for the Memorial Cup I would think our bus drivers should have a little bit more patience and common sense than to yell at people. This left a real good opinion of our bus drivers with my companion from Ontario.
What happened to Kelowna welcoming all our visitors with open arms? Maybe the bus driver just had a bad day! Hopefully he didn't yell at anybody from out of town who might not come back due to his unnecessary comments.
