25,000 new Canadians

For crying out loud. What is the fuss about a welcoming a measly, almost invisible by world standards, 25K new residents? 
 
Thank the lord that sort of thinking is isolated to the 'me first' parts of Canada, much of it sadly and embarrassingly concentrated in and around the Okanagan Valley. The right wing mythology here is thankfully confined to the 'unreported crimes' population but when they open their mouths and say things like “my taxes being spent on lazy immigrants stealing our jobs" it makes the news and the ugly stain rubs off on the actual thinking population. 
 
It must drive the uneducated minds to distraction knowing that medical care is a right in Canada. You’re not in Kansas any more. You’re living in a civilized country now. Going back where you came from is an option for everyone.
