Foundation supports Legion

Official Statement from Communities for Veterans Foundation.

Alice Komasara is not part of the organization team of Communities for Veterans Foundation. 

Acting on her own, Komasara chose to voice her opinion, but it is not reflective of The Ride Across Canada or the Communities for Veterans Foundation. 

The original request to BC/Yukon Command was to relay our request for veterans to join The Ride Across Canada. 

BC/Yukon Command made us aware that their changing membership requirements made it difficult to determine if a member was a veteran and suggested we contact Legion Branches individually. 

After the announcement by Her Honour, Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon, sanctioning our organization to receive gaming grant funds, BC/Yukon Command declined forwarding the request for assistance, but clearly stated its position to willingly verify the sanction for interested Legion Branches.

Our organization is reliant on the support from communities and is very grateful for the contributions offered by Legion Branches including Quesnel, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, Port Moody, Oliver and Princeton.

Individuals in each community who are trying to gather opportunities for us to be supported should be made aware that every Legion is working hard to support many initiatives. 

This campaign for veteran awareness is not questioning Legions for their decision to take part. We are hoping to bring Legions and contemporary veterans together to keep the support system the Legions have provided in the past and help bring it into the future in a positive way. 

We look forward to continuing our campaign throughout the rest of British Columbia in Vernon tomorrow and Armstrong on Thursday with the support of the BC Legions that are able to give and with the knowledge that members of the Kelowna Legion were very passionate about our mission.
