I don't ordinarily spend time reading campaign signs and, in fact, find
them to be an eyesore. But one caught my attention and their slogan had
me absolutely mouth-hanging-open stunned!
Vying for the RDCO, this individual proudly declares "Toward a livable Westside". Livable?
What is it now? I live on the Westside and find it to be down right enjoyable let alone merely livable. This is insulting on two levels.
First, the suggestion that the Westside is currently unlivable implying that those of us who live there are, what, merely subsisting in this horrible place that no one should have to live in?
That we are so unfortunate to have to stay in such an intolerable place. Secondly, is livable the limit?
Don't reach for the stars or anything. Why not "a prosperous Westside" or some qualifier that suggests we at least have potential? Livable.
