Time to fix 33

Another tragic loss of life has hit Joe Rich with the death of a beautiful young lady well known in the community. How many more must die before the Ministry reacts?. The stretch of highway east of Heartland to the intersection of Goudie road has its fair share of fatalities over the years and as a retired member of the Joe Rich fire department, I have attended a number of them. As a past president of the ratepayers group in the area, I attended a meeting with highways a number of years ago where two projects were on the table with only funds for one. The widening of Walker Hill or the straightening of the hairpin section on Highway 33. We know what won. It's now time for the second project to be completed. Along with the call for lowering the speed limit, maybe Alley's death will not just be another tragic loss to this community. Too many of our youngsters have been killed in the carnage along this highway. It's time for this to end.
