Sidewalk snow hazards

An open letter to Mayor and Councillors

I don't know if there is a snow-clearing bylaw in Kelowna, if not there should be and enforcement.

We went for a walk today (January 21) on Pandosy Street from Sutherland to the Mission Shopping area and from attached pictures (below) it is clear that some homeowners and businesses have let the snow be packed down so now it is ice.

It is a hazard to anyone who is using a wheelchair, walker or cane or anyone who is trying to push a baby carrier. In many areas there is accumulated dirt and debris that has not been cleared for what looks like years. Several places bushes and trees come out over the sidewalk so you are forced to the side. These obstacles are not just confined to Pandosy Street.

As a supposedly "pedestrian friendly City" these instances does not meet that criteria.

Sincerely

Bill Kusk
