Never Enough Security

I went to the Black Eyed Peas concert on Saturday night and found it to be
a great all around concert. The one fight that I noticed had started was quickly stopped by security. People who were pushing their way to the front of the floor seating were turned away. Both the opening act, Taleb Kweli, and the Black Eyed Peas were great. In fact, Taleb even went as far as to publicly say over the mic that fighting in the crowd was B.S. and that it shouldn't be happening out there.

Yes, there was plenty of beer, water, pop, ciders, etc. spilled on the floor. Yes, there was definitely marijuana being smoked at times in the audience. Yes, there was a fight amongst the crowd. Yes, there were people taking pictures when it said explicitly on the tickets not to. Welcome to your first concert! Unless they had one security person per 5 concert goers, there is no way to fully make sure that nothing happens. I found that the security did an excellent job considering there was a sold out crowd.

I've been to concerts all over the place, and no matter where you go, there will be beer spilled, pot smoked and fights started. The security can only do so much. Unless you want ticket prices to be five times higher to pay for the additional security for everybody, you're going to have to deal with it. You now know what a concert experience is like. If you don't like the experience, then maybe you should just watch it on TV if you like the band so much.

L.B.
