I have lived in Kelowna for 15 years. The bridge has never been an issue to me having come from the lower mainland. However during the past week I have been delayed 4 times either going to or coming home for work in the downtown core.
This was due to one sailboat using the liftspan at 9:00 am one day and 10:00 two more days followed by 7:00 pm last Friday night. It amazes me one vessel has more rights than 500 occupants of automobiles.
The delays this causes are huge and the possibility of accidents increases dramatically with all the slowdowns. People with sailboats are fully aware of the bridge prior to acquiring and using these PLEASURE craft. Something must be done to restrict liftspan operations during heavy traffic times.
Perhaps a campaign to let our MPs or MLA know of the publics displeasure with this nonsense can prompt a change.
