Less Blame And More Help

In reply to the people who want to sling mud at Dorothy and her son Evan let me tell you a little about them. We need less blame and more help.

Evan was born with fetal alcohol affects and was placed in foster care shortly after his birth. His foster mother loved him and the family adored this little guy who had a smile that would light up a room.

Dorothy, whom we know as Evan's mother, was that foster mom. In 1989 around his 8th birthday Dorothy was involved in a motor vehicle accident that changed her and the life of her family forever. Dorothy was left with a partial paralysis of her lower body that left her bound to a bed for months.

Over the next 10 years Dorothy had two amputations. Evan was a high need child who needed challenge and positive redirection constantly. Dorothy tried to give him the best under extremely unfortunate circumstances.

This is an opportunity to take what has happened and make proactive choices. We need education in "Front line crisis intervention". I ask Andre to develop a risk management plan in dealing with shoplifting and
creating a policy that does not permit choke holds. I am sure that Mr. Blanleil understands that choke holds are destructive and no piece of equipment is worth more than a life of an individual who happens to
be a son, brother, cousin and friend.

There are training methods out there for "Front line crisis intervention" that can be implemented. I ask that business's would train their staff according to the risks that they encounter.

Respectfully submitted,

Jody Wielgosz,
Evan's cousin.
