I am writing in response to "One Solution To The Rabbit Problem" by A.L. Now I know that many people eat rabbit meat but come on now, my children and I drive past the firehall and are always looking to the right to "check for bunnies".....this is a regular part of our routine and has been for the last 5 years that we have lived in Kelowna.
Imagine our suprise the very first time we drove by and saw 8 rabbits happily munching away on the hill! It wasn't "Oh my, Kelowna is over ridden with rabbits", it was "WOW, look at that!" To my family, we are happy to see a little bit of rural in a big city, it is nice to know that all the businesses and buildings haven't driven out even these small residents of Kelowna as it has grown!
LEAVE THEM ALONE, they have been here for a couple of decades and have a right to their home as well, and how sad for all of the children who have come to expect and anticipate seeing them! (even the adults) The traffic tends to take care of some of the bunny population, and they do have natural predators in the area as well, let nature take it's course....Only on some very lucky days do we ever see around 20, usually we only see 2 or 3 and some days none at all...so PLEASE LEAVE THE BUNNIES ALONE!
