BC Hydro and other power companies in BC have the right to check the power load in commercial establishments. There was a very serious warehouse fire last week in Richmond, the firefighters were put at great risk fighting the fire.
There was a huge grow-op in the building, which probably caused the fire through overloading the buildings wiring circuits. If the province would give Hydro and the police permission to work together it would not be that costly to have Hydro technicians and the police to regularly complete load checks on selected buildings.
No doubt this will be a WCB recommendation after we lose one of our brave firemen.
