Letters to the editor
Thank you Dr.
Oct 16, 2013 / 3:26 pm
As with many others, I got to thinking this past weekend about what I’m thankful for…the usual came to mind; family, friends, my job, etc; however, one thing stood out in my mind and that was the fact that there is a long overdue ‘thank you’ needing to be given.
Back on November 25th 2012, our 4.5 year old son had a medical emergency so my husband and I took him to the ER at KGH. We were triaged quickly and then once the main ER doctor looked him over we were asked to wait one hour to see the pediatrician on-call so we happily obliged. After the hour went by we met someone who would forever change our lives, Dr Neelesh Ranchod.
After checking out our son and ordering a couple tests that seemed pretty routine, a couple weeks later on 12/12/12 we went back to see Dr Ranchod to get our results. Low-and-behold, our son has a very rare, incurable disease (Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension) that would send us to BC Children’s Hospital.
Over the past 10 months our world has gone from very normal to overwhelming and, at times, almost chaotic; however, we know our lives would be very different if not for Dr Ranchod. So, this weekend an extra person was remembered around our Thanksgiving table and I just wanted to say a very long, overdue thank you to this amazing man who will forever hold a special place in the heart of our family.
