Thumbs up for downtown
Oct 11, 2013 / 12:07 pm
A couple of years ago when Elton John came to play in Kelowna we decided to go downtown with hopes of hearing tourists who were in town for the concert marvel about how beautiful Kelowna was. Instead, what we heard was the opposite. We were sitting outside an ice cream store on Bernard and as people walked by we heard “This is it, this is all there is?”, and “Lets not go down there (Bernard), there’s nothing to see”. We were sad that this was visitors first impressions of what Kelowna has to offer.
Fast forward to the new Mayor and council and all of the wonderful changes to the downtown that they have supported. It is so beautiful and will keep getting better. We walked on the new pier this weekend and were so grateful for this wonderful addition. We have spent more time downtown this summer then all of the summers combined that we have lived here and will continue to enjoy and be proud of everything that this new downtown has to offer.
