Kelowna's local successes

Congratulations to Ryan Lee the president and CEO of Three Point Capital as the company is now accepting investors.

This was started back in February, so we can only imagine the hard work your team has put into building this.

Three Point Capital is strong, stable mortgage investment fund right here in Kelowna. Their primary investment objective is to provide a strong and stable dividend secured by their careful investments in mortgage loans.

Visit their website to see their team and the all the resources they provide.

Congratulations to Alex Miller, CEO of Visland Media Inc., because the first episode of Sellers Market appeared last night on Chek TV.

Castanet has already posted the link to watch it.

Visland Media Inc. is a development and distribution company for a new age of television and film. Really, they are transforming the conventional development and distribution of high quality media content.

Get to know this company because they are booming.

Canadian Business Magazine just published Canada’s Top Growth Companies and three Kelowna companies made the list.

No. 1 was Strawhouse Inc, 5 Point Operations came in 12th and Refresh Financial finished 19th on the list.

Visit Accelerate Okanagan's Blog to read more about each local company and to see the entire list.

Why your searching through their blog, read the Bananatag start-up story as I am sure they will be top of this list soon as well.

Surf Side California Food Truck owners Ian and Heidi are hosting a food truck and craft beer event next Thursday, Oct. 5.

This rally is being hosted in the North End, so you can expect to see Little Tokyo, Artisto, CrAsian, TNT and obviously Surf Side California.

Red Bird Brewing, Kettle River Brewing and Tree Brewing will be showcasing their beers.

Tomorrow is opening day for the corn maze and pumpkin patch at McMillan Farms

McMillan Farms was started in 1950, but the pumpkin patch was started in 2004 by grandkids Ron and Colleen. That year, they only had 100 pumpkins and today they produced several thousand.

If you haven’t been here, make sure to add this to your Halloween activities and book your hay ride as soon as you get there so you don’t miss out.

The second annual Tree Brewing Oktoberfest is Saturday from open to close.

You will get to try the Oktoberfest Beer that has been barrel aging since March. They will have German inspired food, games, prizes and German music.

I’m also told that one of the Beer Geeks will be in lederhosen two sizes to small. They probably lost a fantasy football bet.

Get your Oktoberfest hat and dust off your alpenhorn and join them sometime on Saturday.

Since it is mushroom season, Start Fresh Kitchen has started the Okanagan Mushroom Festival.

They are celebrating with a mushroom foraging trip. They will also be hosting educational talks and showing you how to grow your own mushrooms. To top it all off they will be welcoming you into their kitchen for an amazing fungi-inspired meal.

Each event has limited amounts of tickets so get yours early.

If you’re looking for a place to party after work today, DJ Invizible is at the Perch Cafe from 4-7 p.m.

This way you can start your weekend off right with some music, drinks, snacks and literally dancing on the roof top.

Make it a great week!
