Kelowna & PG are blood brothers
Oct 4, 2013 / 2:35 pm
Kelowna's lead over Prince George is slipping away as we reach the half-way mark of the Interior Drive For Life Challenge.
Kelowna is just ahead of Prince George in blood collections to date, having achieved more than 93 per cent of its target.
“With four weeks to go in this year’s blood drive contest, we’re calling on Kelowna residents to help us build on our early lead and stay out in front of Prince George,” says Gayle Voyer, partnership specialist with Canadian Blood Services.
“Prince George has narrowed the collections gap considerably. Whether you’re a new or returning blood donor in Kelowna now is the time to book your next appointment.”
Prince George has won three of five IDFL contests in 2008, 2010, and 2012.
Kelowna was victorious in 2009 and 2011.
The city that collects the most blood donations by Oct. 31 will be declared this year’s winner.
Local residents who want to book a donation appointment and support the contest can do so here or by calling 1-888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
Kelowna area residents are asked to give blood at the Kelowna Blood Donor Clinic at 103-1865 Dilworth Drive, which is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 19.
The breakdown over the first half of the competition looks like this:
|Kelowna||Prince George||Challenge Total|
|Target To Date||832||512||1,344|
