The provincial government's budget caravan will roll into Kelowna as part of BC-wide consultation process.
A public hearing will be held in Kelowna Wednesday, Oct 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Coast Capri Hotel.
A similar hearing is being held today (Tuesday) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Penticton Council Chambers with a video heading slated for Thursday in Education Room 3 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital from 9 a.m. until noon.
The province has scheduled 17 such public hearings and five video hearing through the province.
The process began Sept 20 and concludes Oct 16.
Interested taxpayers and stakeholders in each community has an opportunity to present ideas on how to keep BC's economy strong and what they want to see in BC's Balanced Budget.
Penticton MLA, Dan Ashton, Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, says input will help determine what is included in the next budget.
"These public consultations give a voice to the taxpayers across the province and give British Columbians the opportunity to tell government how they want to see their hard-earned dollars spent," says Ashton.
"I would like to encourage people to join the conversation by attending public consultations, sending written, audio or video submissions or by completing the survey available on the committee's website.
"British Columbians gave us a clear mandate to grow the economy, invest in the future and balance the budget and that's exactly what we're doing," says Premier Christy Clark, MLA for Westside-Kelowna.
"These consultations are a chance to make your voice heard.
