Good food and good karma

Kelowna residents who want to help fight homelessness can dine out on Monday night all for a good cause.

Greek food and good company will be combined for this worthy event that is meant for people who are too busy to donate multiple house but can contribute in a different way while eating at a local restaurant.

“Our ‘Dining Out to End Homelessness’ campaign is about social consumerism – supporting businesses that match your values,” says Tara Tschritter, Coordinator of Inn from the Cold Kelowna.  “We know that many people want to help, and this is an easy and fun way to do it.  We’ve partnered with local restaurants that also want to give back to the community, so people can enjoy a dinner out and the proceeds will help provide shelter for those without homes in Kelowna this winter.”

The Olympia Greek Taverna is the host Monday, September 30th at 6pm.  Tickets are $30 and include a multi course meal, tax and tip. The dinner also features raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw.

If you can’t make it on Monday there are other events coming up, the Dining Out to End Homelessness dinners at Roses Pub on November 7th 2013 and the Minstrel Café on February 18 2014.

Information and tickets can be obtained at 1187 Sutherland Ave, the Pitstop Husky on Gordon or on-line at www.innfromthecoldkelowna.org

The Inn from the Cold Kelowna is a volunteer-based registered charity operating a 35- bed winter shelter and three year-round programs, Inn Home Support, for persons recently housed or at risk for homelessness, Outreach and Case management as well as a social capacity building Homeless Street Soccer Program, the Kelowna Kodiaks.  During the winter months, Inn from the Cold Kelowna operates a low barrier co-ed shelter offering a warm, compassionate and safe refuge for both men and women in Kelowna.
