A 44 year old Kelowna man is in custody after two men were stabbed Sunday afternoon.
Just after 12:30 p.m. Kelowna RCMP responded to an assault on Richter Street at Bernard Avenue. Almost immediately another report was received of a fight, and then a stabbing, on Ellis Street at Leon Avenue. The two reports were the same continuous event. Police arrested the suspect without incident and later recovered the weapon involved. Two men (64 and 29) were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both men have since been released from hospital.
RCMP are not confirming what was used as a weapon, however the man who was attacked says it was scissors.
The 44 year old Kelowna man faces potential charges of Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Assault with a Weapon. He is scheduled to appear in Court today.
Two men are in hospital after an alleged altercation in downtown Kelowna left one man with multiple stab wounds and another with a serious head injury.
The investigation is in the early stages but according to one eyewitness account, a man in his early thirties wearing a bloody shirt chased another man into Tonics Pub on Ellis St. shortly after noon. The two men then re-emerged from the building onto the patio where the witness was sitting and a verbal altercation between them ensued.
The injured man says the fight started in a church.
Members of the RCMP appeared shortly after and the man was arrested without incident.
The witness says that he overheard that a second victim was also involved and that he received a "serious head injury." He also overheard that the weapon used in the stabbing was a pair of scissors, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Police say a weapon was recovered, but they are not releasing details at this time.
Injuries are said to be non life-threatening.
We will update the story as information becomes available.
