How would you like to relive the golden age of radio?
Better yet, how would you like to be an audience member at a 1940s radio show?
If you answered yes to both questions, this is the ideal production for you and anyone like you.
Theatre Kelowna Society presents A Sentimental Journey Sept. 12 through Oct. 6 at the Black Box Theatre. The production is billed as: 'A celebration of the golden age of radio and fond tribute to the Greatest Generation.'
If it sounds like a good time, just get a load of the story line: "When you enter the Black Box Theatre you will be part of the studio audience at a 1943 broadcast of “Axel Starr’s Radio Hour”! You’ll be treated to Andrews Sister’s style songs from the era accompanied by a live three-piece band led by Sylvia Clerke."
The show includes serial comedies and melodramas in the style of 1940s radio shows, with real-time sound effects. Sing along to your favourite tunes and laugh at the old-time humour from those memorable and sentimental bygone days.
The cast for the performance includes Kim Foreman, who also wrote and directs the show, Jeff Samin, Debby Helf, John Van Dyk, Robin Jarman, Karen Mason, and Ashley Lewicki.
Tickets are currently on sale at Prospera Place Box Office (250-762-5050) or you can go online here
Tickets are $25 each, plus service charges. A 10 percent discount is offered on group tickets.
The show will run nightly from Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee will be offered each Saturday during the show's run at 2 p.m.
