Turning oppression into opportunity

Just the Way You Are will bring local individuals together for a screening of the acclaimed documentary Half the Sky, craftivism activities, and (new this year) a craftacular.

The event will feature a screening of Half the Sky, a documentary that introduces women and girls from around the globe who are fighting bravely to change their lives and communities for the better.

We are now accepting applications from vendors for the craftacular.  We invite local artisans, crafters, and social enterprises to market their Mother’s Day gift ideas – a portion of all the proceeds will support projects that empower women to live free from violence and economic insecurity.

Half the Sky is about turning oppression into opportunity.   Change isn’t just a possibility, it’s happening right here in our community!” Allie Grey, Resource Centre Faciliatator for the Central Okanagan Elizabeth Fry Society.

Event will be held 11am to 3pm, Saturday May 4th, at Okanagan College, 1000 KLO Rd. in Kelowna.

To get involved, contact Allie Grey at 250.763.4613.
