RCMP in conjunction with Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit announced the arrests of three men in connection with the murder of Jonathon Bacon, which took place in front of the Delta Grand Hotel in Kelowna August 14, 2011.

On Friday, February 22, 100 police officers from Kelowna, Vancouver and Toronto executed six simultaneous search warrants, making the arrests.

Jujhur Khun-Khun, 25 was arrested in Surrey, Michael Kerry Hunter Jones, 25 was arrested in Toronto, and Jason Thomas McBride, 37 was arrested at his residence in Vancouver.  All three are charged with first degree murder as well as four counts each of attempted murder.

The shooting, which killed Bacon, also left four others injured, including Hells Angels member Larry Amero, a member of the Independent Soldiers street gang who fled the scene, and two women, one of whom is now in a wheelchair as a result of her injuries.

“Today marks the conclusion of a program we call “E-Nitrogen”,” said Chief Superintendent Dan Malo during a live broadcast from Delta and streamed on Castanet.

“E-Nitrogen is an 18-month investigation, led by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia, into the targeted murder of Jonathon Bacon and the attempted murder of his associates.”

“This violent incident rocked the city of Kelowna in an act so brazen that it might have been mistaken for a bad action movie.  However, for the victims and the members of the public there that day, it was all too real.”

“E-Nitrogen was an extremely complex and challenging project that has set an important standard for how these organized crime investigations work,” said Asst Commissioner Wayne Rideout.

“It represents the very best of an integrated and coordinated law enforcement approach to organized crime investigations.”

“Today’s announcement is an example of our investigative efforts to go where we need to, to hold people accountable for their actions.”
