Europe travel expo Feb. 23, 2013
Over a hundred people were getting their ballots in today at the Annual Europe Travel Expo at the Kelowna International Airport. The airport was packed with booths about air travel, hotels, travel packages, and tour groups.
The lucky participants had the chance to win a trip for two to London, England and many other prizes. Air Canada will be flying the lucky twosome from Kelowna to London, England. There were more prizes, including a $500 travel voucher with Transat Holidays and a $200 travel voucher with Air Canada Vacations.
Air Canada now provides daily connecting flights from Kelowna to Vancouver and Calgary. Which makes it that much easier for travelers wanting to see Big Ben or Buckingham Palace.
Participants were also asked to donate used glasses. If they brought five pairs of glasses they received one ballot for the prizes. All money raised, and the donated glasses from the event, were given to The Gift of Vision.
The Gift of Vision was founded by Catherine Goheen owner of Dr. Specs Optical in Kelowna and Penticton. She has donated her time over the years to give used eyeglasses to those in need in Third World countries.
“We have gone to 28 different Third World countries. Mothers have been able to go back to work because they can see and their children can come out of the factories and go back to school so we have made an unbelievable difference in their lives, says Goheen.
