Home invasion suspect seeks counsel

Mathew Scott Stewart
One of the men connected to a Halloween home invasion in Kelowna last year made his first court appearance this morning, appearing via video from the Surrey Pretrail Services Centre.
Mathew Scott Stewart is facing seven charges, including break and enter, assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm.
He has yet to retain legal counsel, so the matter has been adjourned to Feb. 7, giving Stewart two weeks to find a lawyer.
It was during the early morning hours of Nov. 1 that Stewart, along with co-accused Keven Graham allegedly broke into a residence at 1340 Belaire Avenue armed with a pistol and a shotgun.
A warrant was issued for Stewart in December and he was finally picked up earlier this month in Surrey.
