DreamLift Day
Wendy’s Restaurants in the BC southern interior is pleased to announce that Wendy’s DreamLift Day will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6 a.m. to closing.
This is the 19th year that Wendy’s has held this fundraising event to benefit the Sunshine Foundation of Canada.
Last year John Tietzen, the creator of Wendy's Dreamlift Day, sold his nine Wendy's restaurants in the Southern Interior to Ken Park.
Park is keeping up the tradition.
“I am impressed by the time and hard work invested into this event by our Wendy’s team, the support from the community and the exceptional media coverage," says Park. "This year, our goal is to beat last year’s total."
All the net proceeds from the day’s sales in the nine participating Wendy’s, as well as staff, management, & owner’s wages will be earmarked for the next BC Interior “DreamLift to Disneyland”, tentatively scheduled for December 2013.
Participating Wendy’s include; Kelowna (Rutland & Hwy 97), West Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, Kamloops (North Kamloops, Sahali, Valleyview) and Salmon Arm. Wendy's will be open at 6 a.m. for Redhead Roaster coffee by donation with the regular menu available at 9 a.m.
Local celebrities and dignitaries will be on hand along with members from the R.C.M.P, former Wendy’s staff and other service/sports organizations to help make Wendy’s DreamLift Day a success.
The Sunshine Foundation of Canada is a fully independent national charity working to make dreams come true for children, between the ages of three and 18, who are challenged by severe physical disabilities and/or life-threatening illnesses. The Foundation’s “DreamLift to Disney” program enables a plane load of special children to fly to Disneyland to enjoy a magical day of fun in the sun. This flight is only possible due to the tremendous support from our local communities on Wendy’s DreamLift Day!
As in past years, Wendy’s is also hosting members from the California Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) as they play such a critical role in the success of Wendy’s DreamLift to Disneyland. The public often asks why Wendy’s Restaurants brings the OCSD representatives to the interior of BC during Wendy’s DreamLift Day. It is because the Orange County Sheriff’s representatives are so critical to the success of the actual DreamLift flight. Wendy’s wants them to connect to the community they are supporting.
