Kelowna RCMP have taken another prolific offender off the streets.
Cst. Kris Clark, says Austin William Murray, 33, was found inside a suspected stolen truck last Friday night.
He was found to be in possession of several illicit drugs.
Clark says members of the RCMP's Prolific Offender Suppression Team working downtown December 14 noticed a truck which appeared to be stolen in the downtown area.
"A vehicle stop was initiated in the 1600 block of Water Street and police confirmed that the vehicle's VIN had been removed from the dash," says Clark.
"The two occupants were arrested for possession of stolen property. The driver was well know to police and found to be in possession of methamphetamine as well as a large quantity of cash."
Clark says various other drugs were seized from inside the vehicle.
In all, Clark says police seized 46 grams of meth, 1.8 ounces of liquid GHB, .5 grams of crack cocaine, .4 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia and $3,800 in cash.
Clark says the second person in the vehicle with high level gang associations was not arrested.
Murray has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
He has been released and will appear in court Thursday.
"Street level crime continues to be a detachment priority for the Kelowna RCMP," says Clark.
"Using intelligence-lead policing strategies, Kelowna RCMP remain dedicated to targeting prolific offenders in an effort to reduce crime in Kelowna."
