40-year-old Michael Meads was heading into work when the unthinkable happened, he was stabbed in the neck as he was about to enter the family business. The brutal attack took place behind the Pandosy Market Thursday afternoon.

Bill Meads owns the store, he confirmed it was his son who was assaulted.

"He was coming to work and found some crack-head hanging around by the back door and told him to leave and the guy pulled a knife and stabbed him," says Bill Mead.

"Michael pounded on the back door. We heard the noise - he staggered in and dropped the knife and here we are and he is in the hospital."

A manhunt is now underway as RCMP look for the assailant who fled on foot.

As for the victim, it looks like he will recover.

"It looked like he was going to be OK. They were looking for deeper cuts than what they thought he might have had. He was stabbed between the neck and the shoulder."

Meads is shocked at what happened to his son.

"It's pretty brutal when a guy comes to work and he gets stabbed."
