Kelowna resident Anne Spelliscy will be honoured Saturday at the final BC Lions regular season game at BC Place Stadium.

Spelliscy will receive a $1,000 cheque as part of the Scotiabank game Changer promotion.

The Kelowna woman is being honoured for her work with the Kelowna Women's Shelter.

For the past four years, Spelliscy has worked diligently to collect basic necessities through donations from local business and friends - necessities such as shampoo, tooth brushes, soap and lotion.

She has packaged them for women and children living in shelters around the city.

Spelliscy coordinates about 150 to 200 care packages for women and 50 to 75 for children, each worth approximately $65.

She has been able to do all this while suffering through Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gherig's Disease

Spelliscy has suffered with the disease for more than 23 years and is now a quadriplegic and unable to speak.

Anne's husband and son will attend Saturday's game and accept the cheque on her behalf.

The $1,000 cheque will go to the Women's Shelter.
