Water notice downgraded by GEID
Oct 27, 2012 / 12:27 pm
After over five months, the Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District (GEID), in consultation with Interior Health, has downgraded the Ellison Boil Water Notice issued on May 16 to a Water Quality Advisory (WQA).
This WQA applies to select Ellison properties serviced by GEID which are located on or east of Old Vernon Road, on or north of Anderson Road, all properties on Postill Lake Road and all properties south of Postill Drive.
An ongoing WQA remains in place for those properties serviced by GEID located at 4451 to 4563 Postill Drive, 5981 Old Vernon Road, Country Rhodes Strata at 6100 Old Vernon Road, Country View Estates at 6400 Spencer Road, Dry Valley Road and Gale Road.
This means that all Ellison properties serviced by the GEID are now on an advisory. Also, all properties serviced by the GEID which are located in Glenmore and McKinley Landing still remain on a WQA.
Any properties under a WQA have water that is considered fair due to elevated turbidity (cloudiness in the water).
For fair ratings, IHA recommends that children 12 and under, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems boil their water for one minute or seek a safe alternative.
Owners of public facilities must post Water Quality Advisories at all sinks or drinking water fountains accessible to the public and, if possible, advise their clientele verbally of the WQA.
If you require further information contact the GEID office at 250-763-6506 or visit their website.
