Book bargain hunters search for books at a previous Great Okanagan Book Sale.

Kelowna Friends of the Library hope to draw bookworms over the next three days with cheap books and audio/visual material at the Great Okanagan Book Sale.

The 24th annual book sale got underway Thursday morning at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall on Sutherland Avenue with offers for both young and old.

Adult books, including mystery, romance, western, and science fiction, are on for $1 a piece, and premium (high quality content, good-as-new)books go for $2, $5, and $10.

“Children’s books are 50 cents each, which is a great bargain for kids,” says Michelle Ward, director of Kelowna Friends of the Library. The sale will feature a full room of children's material.

DVDs, talking books, games, puzzles, and CDs are also available.

Books consist of those from the Okanagan Regional Library system as well as those donated.

“We have a lot of seniors coming for hard-print material,” Ward adds.

The sale wraps up Thursday at 9 p.m. and continues Friday (9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Proceeds will go back into the regional library system.

Proceeds from last year’s sale totaled $23,700, adding to the 2011 fundraising total of $31,000.
