Purse snatchers wheel close to victims
Kelowna RCMP are warning women to secure their purses properly while shopping, especially in the parking lot after two were snatched right out of shopping carts yesterday.
On October 14, the Kelowna RCMP received multiple reports of theft with the same "M.O." in the parking lots of Costco and Walmart.
The first occurred just before noon in the Costco parking lot.
An elderly Kelowna woman was loading her purchases into her vehicle when a smaller grey or silver car drove past.
An occupant inside stole her purse out of the back of the shopping cart.
At about 4 p.m., it happened again in the Walmart parking lot.
The vehicle is described as a dark coloured sporty compact car.
The driver appeared to be a Caucasian man in his early twenties with light hair and facial stubble. He was seen wearing a red hoodie with a white ballcap pulled down low.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers.
