That's the whiskey talking
The Kelowna Curling Club was hopping this past weekend as Canada's biggest whisky and beer festival hit town.
Over Foodconnect.com's two-day Hopscotch Festival, 4,900 people came through the doors to get their hands on everything from superior premium whisky to India Pale Ale.
Adam Bloch, the event’s executive director, says although one night wasn’t busier than the next, the Saturday was a more positive experience than the Friday.
“Friday was a bit of a younger crowd, so we adjusted to make sure Saturday went over much more smoothly.”
For the first time, the festival had to make tickets unavailable for sale on the Saturday due to maximum attendance.
According to RCMP Cst. Kris Clark, the festival was well organized, but police did have to attend to one intoxicated individual on the Friday night.
Castanet received reports of several intoxicated individuals on the Friday night causing problems. A few witnesses claimed they saw a group throwing shot glasses at a police car, while others complained it was too hot and too loud inside the venue.
Bloch would not comment on any negative aspects of the festival but says, overall, he received good feedback from both vendors and attendees.
“It gets better and better every year and we get more and more ticket sales. A lot of the vendors who were there this year were there the year before and the year before, and new ones keep joining (sic).”
Fifty-five booths were set up each night and over 100 products were available for tasting.
