The start of the long weekend commute was interrupted for a few hours Friday afternoon for those heading south into Kelowna.

Traffic was at a standstill for quite some time after a motor home jackknifed on Highway 97 between  the UBC Okanagan turnoff and Reid's Corner.

It wound up in a ditch.

The incident occurred sometime before 1 p.m.

Southbound traffic had to wait while large tow trucks were called in to remove the unit.

Castanet News Director, Trevor Rockliffe, says traffic was backed up at least five kilometres at one point.
