Hells Angels clubhouse raided
Aug 25, 2012 / 5:56 pm
The Kelowna RCMP are saying little about a raid Saturday afternoon at the Hells Angels Clubhouse on Ellis Street.
In an email to Castanet, Cst. Kris Clark says, "I can simply confirm that a search warrant was executed today, shortly before 3:00 p.m., (Saturday) pursuant to an ongoing investigation. Details will be made available at a press conference on Monday at the 'E' Division Headquarters in Vancouver."
Clark did say the raid involved a Southeast District drug file.
Kelowna RCMP only assisted.
Southeast District members were seen taking several items out of the clubhouse and putting them into the back of a police vehicle.
A rental van was also seen in the alley beside the clubhouse, however, it was not clear whether it was part of Saturday's raid.
While Southeast District went through the clubhouse, members of the Kelowna RCMP stood guard outside the residence.
A Hells Angels 'prospect' standing across the street from the house told Castanet he had no comment on the police action.
At one point, the prospect and a full patch Hells Angel member spoke with RCMP members from across the street.
They eventually moved up to the police tape to continue the conversation before leaving back across the street.
No one was in the house at the time of the raid.
Meantime, a second raid took place at an orchard north of Osoyoos.
A Castanet reader says the Osoyoos raid took place at about the same time as the raid in Kelowna.
We are told several dozen police vehicles, marked and unmarked were at the scene along with Customs Border Patrol.
Many officers, according to the witness, were from out of town.
There are two homes and several outbuildings on the property.
Police had apparently secured a perimeter around the property and a road check going into the property.
There is no official word from police whether the two raids are connected to the same investigation.
