Film maker rides away with prize
Aug 11, 2012 / 3:00 pm
A young aspiring film maker and motorcycle enthusiast was the lucky winner of a brand new 2012 Honda CBR 250R motorcycle Saturday morning.
Kelowna Honda Powerhouse, together with Castanet, held a video contest asking for short video's to show they deserved to win the brand new machine.
Just after 10:00 am, 24 of the 27 video creators were on hand at the store to help select the winner. Everyone who submitted an entry was asked to vote for their three favourite video submissions, excluding their own.
The top three vote-getters were then given a key and asked to try and start the Honda.
After Mathew Breden tried and failed, Daniel Abraham stepped up and turned the key. When the 250R roared to life, Abraham was crowned the winner.
Warren Yost was the third person selected, but he never got the chance to try his key.
"We had some very creative videos, like we noticed with Daniel today," says Operation Manager Andy Jones.
"A lot of hype with this bike, it's really evolved. The new technology is going to allow a new to intermediate rider to get out and ride and have fun. These bikes are amazing, 74 miles to the gallon, affordable insurance, it's really going to take off."
All the finalists received consolation prizes for their efforts.
