Witnesses report car in flames
Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fully engulfed in flames as they travelled on the Connector on Monday.
Paul Dournovo said he was on the highway heading eastbound just past Brenda Mine, when he saw a plume of black smoke.
“As we drew closer we saw the vehicle, with flames spouting out of the gas tank,” he said. “It looked like everyone got out and I didn’t see an ambulance.”
There was a RCMP SUV and tow truck on hand, he said, with a big traffic jam building for those heading west.
“I had never seen that before and I felt bad for the car owner and those waiting,” he said. “People were sitting on the side of the road just baking in the heat.”
The RCMP is expected to release a press release on the incident Monday afternoon.
