Cop ticketed for parking infraction

UPDATE Thursday, 10 a.m. - RCMP have now completed a review of circumstances surrounding an officer who parked her police cruiser in a handicapped stall while responding to a call at Orchard Park Mall.

Following his review, Supt. Bill McKinnon determined the circumstances did not meet the exemptions under the Motor Vehicle Act for the member to use the reserved parking space.

"This was an error in judgement on the part of our member and we would like for an opportunity to apologize directly to the person that brought this to our attention," says McKinnon.

The member has received operational guidance and will be issued a Motor Vehicle Act violation ticket for the parking infraction.
