A 19-year-old Kelowna woman will be without her driver's licence for 90 days after slamming her vehicle into a light pole Tuesday night.
Police say they received a report of a single vehicle collision shortly before midnight on Highway 97 in front of the Dilworth Centre.
Witnesses say the woman behind the wheel appeared to be in shock and took off on foot.
She returned a short time later and spoke with police who detected signs of impairment.
The woman refused a request for a roadside breath sample and was issued a ticket for Driving Without Due Care and Attention and Possessing Open Liquor in a Motor Vehicle.
She was also given a 90-day driving prohibition.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police remind people not to drive if they plan on drinking.
"By finding an alternative way home such as transit, cabs or a designated driver you can help ensure that you, and people sharing the road with you, get to their destination safely," says Cst. Kris Clark.
