Kelowna RCMP are looking for a male in the Gallagher's area based on reports he may be armed with a gun.

Police were called to a residence on Gallagher's Parkway early Friday morning suggesting the suspect may have had a gun.

They attended the scene where they arrested the suspect's girlfriend on an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

She pre-occupied police while the suspect fled through the back of the house into Gallagher's Canyon where police have launched an extensive search including dogs and the RCMP helicopter.

Police have also blocked off roads including Field Road at McCulloch.

The suspect is said to be in his early 20s and has a lifetime firearms ban.

His name has not been released.

The search continues.
