Update: The search for 52-year-old Prolific Federal Offender, Barrie Quirt Friesen came to an end March 20 when he was arrested outside a residence in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Police say the arrest was a collaborative effort by several police departments, Correctional Service Canada, the media and the public who came forward with tips.
RCMP in the Okanagan continue to look for Barrie Quint Friesen.
A Canada wide warrant was issued for Friesen on January 10 when he failed to report to a Community Based Residential Facility in Kamloops after he was released from jail.
Friesen was to serve the remainder of his sentence at the Kamloops facility.
The 52-year-old Friesen is described as a prolific offender with over 88 previous convictions.
Police say his movements have been traced from the Upper Fraser Valley to Kamloops and the South Okanagan.
He has used a number of aliases since his disappearance and has made several attempts to take financial advantage of others.
Police say he has a history of taking vehicles without consent and impaired driving among other offences.
Friesen does have a history of violence so he should not be approached.
Anyone who may have had contact with Friesen or receives a suspicious or threatening call asking for money should contact authorities immediately.
He was last seen wearing a red and grey ski jacket, blue ball cap, blue jeans and white runners.
He was carrying a blue duffle bag.
Friesen also has tattoos which go around each wrist like a bracelet.
