Dancing to gold now cooking for gold

Olympic champion Jamie Salé is joining the growing list of Canadian athletes and entertainers at this year's Grand Finale of the Gold Medal Plates.

Salé and her partner David Pelletier won the pairs gold at the 2002 Salt Lake City games.

The Grand Finale of the Gold Medal Plates Canadian Culinary Championships will be held at the Delta Grand Okanagan Saturday, February 11.

Salé will join Olympic athletes Adam van Koeverden, Kelsey Serwa and Kristie Richards along with entertainers Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies and Barney Bentall.

Event organizers say the final is over 90 per cent sold out.

Gold Medal Plates is a national project and the ultimate celebration of Canadian Excellence in cuisine, wine, entertainment and athletic achievement.  

Net proceeds from Gold Medal Plates which is currently at $5 million are given to the Canadian Olympic Foundation which supports Olympic and Paralympic athletes and high performance programs such as ‘Own the Podium’.
