Date set for preliminary hearing

 

A preliminary hearing has been set for January 3, 2012 in the Brittany Irving trial.

Joelon David Atish Verma is charged with first degree murder in the death and robbery of Irving.

Crown prosecutors will call 18 witnesses to the stand during the pre-trial, six of whom will be civilians including one expert cell phone witness.

The rest will be RCMP officers.

The preliminary hearing will take five to six days.

Irving was reported missing April 6, 2010. Police found her body in late April in an undisclosed location.

No bail has been set for Verma.
