Local artist gets 'Hall of Fame' show

A Kelowna artist will be front and centre at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Bob Mueller, who came to prominence four years ago with his series of NFL paintings and 'Tough Guy Greeting Cards,' opens a month-long art show with NFL Films President, Steve Sabol.

NFL Films was in the Okanagan in July of 2007 to shoot Mueller's life story, 'Finding Your Butkus.' The film won an Emmy in 2008 for Outstanding Long Feature.

Mueller met Sabol at the Emmy's and eventually made plans to do a joint art show based on Sabol's 'Top 10/100 Greatest Players of All Time' series.

The collection featured at the Hall of Fame includes Mueller's paintings of the seven Hall of Fame inductees as well as 10 of the all-time greatest NFL players.

The 2011 Hall of Fame class includes Richard Dent, Marshall Faulk, Chris Hanburger, Les Richter, Deion Sanders, Shannon Sharpe and Ed Sabol, Steve's father.

Twenty of Mueller's original pieces will be displayed along with 14 created by Steve Sabol.

The show runs in Canton from August 5 to September 9.
