Sketch of shooting suspect released

Thanks to a tip from the public, RCMP now have a sketch of a person of interest in a brazen shooting last summer.

The shooting occurred in the downtown core of Kelowna on Leon and Abbott streets on September 7, 2010.

"Unknown occupants of a black 1982 Chevy Blazer fired multiple gun shots at a grey 2009 Nissan Sentra. The male driver of the Nissan Sentra received a non-life threatening gunshot wound," says RCMP Const Steve Holmes.

The Blazer was later found in West Kelowna and had been torched.

Holmes says police have received further information on the incident and are attempting to identify a person of interest.

"Police are seeking the public’s assistance  identifying and locating the subject in the sketch."

Holmes says the fact that this shooting happened in a public area is of great concern to police.

"The Kelowna RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is therefore seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals involved in this shooting."

The Kelowna RCMP are encouraging anyone who has information to call the Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers anonymous tips line at 1.800.222.TIPS or visit our website at www.crimestoppers.net.

Your information will be kept confidential and could lead to a substantial cash reward.
