The Motorcycle Ride For Dad celebrated its 10th anniversary this past summer by holding a cross-Canada tour in support of the fight against prostate cancer.
Gerry Parrott, the co-chair of the Okanagan chapter of the Ride For Dad says "The ride raises money to help research the disease, find cures for the disease, and also to encourage men to get tested for it."
To help out this year, Harley Davidson Canada donated a 2010 Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle to be won by one of the ride participants.
The bike was custom painted by Roger Pouw of Extreme Measures Kustom Paint, and features the Ride for Dad ribbon of steel logo and is emblazoned with flames.
For every $100 raised by a rider, they received one entry into the draw. Riders all across Canada were eligible to win, so Parrott was pleased that the winner lives here in Kelowna.
Moe Cardinal is a retired RCMP officer who rode for five years with Harley Davidson police issued motorcycles. Moe was presented with his prize on Saturday during an unveiling held at Banner recreational Products.
He raised $900 on his own and one of his nine entries earned was the first out of the draw.
"Right now it's too nice to ride. It's a showpiece that attracts attention" said Cardinal. "We intend to use it to promote the Ride For Dad throughout the year."
