Harvey Avenue westbound has been closed between Dilworth Drive and Cooper Road due to a serious pedestrian collision Monday night.

The highway will likely be re-opened by morning rush hour, police on scene say.

A woman and a young child were struck by a car and were taken to hospital in serious condition.

A witness says CPR was being performed on the child, who did not appear to be breathing.

The pedestrians were not near a crosswalk.

RCMP say speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.
