Drug dealers busted in cars

by - Story: 56508

Members of the RCMP's Municipal Drug section had a busy couple of days arresting suspects who were dealing illegal drugs from their vehicles.

On August 19 at around 7:45 p.m., police stopped an older grey Toyota sedan, after observing the two male occupants conducting drug transactions from the vehicle.

Constable Steve Holmes says police arrested two 17-year-old males, from the Kelowna area, for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

“A search of the suspects and the vehicle produced $585 cash, six grams of crack cocaine, 14 grams of marijuana and weapons that included brass knuckles and an extendable steel baton,” says Holmes.

He says the two are facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. There were released to appear in court on November 9, 2010.

“On August 20 at 6:23 p.m., Drug Unit members stopped a green Chev sedan in the 300 block of Hemlock Road. A 31-year-old Kelowna man was arrested for trafficking.”

Holmes says police found $190 in cash and 12.5 grams of crack cocaine, along with other drug paraphernalia.

“The man was released to appear in court on November 8 to face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.”

He says at 7:44 p.m. that same day, police stopped a green Toyota sedan in the 1400 block of Flemish Road after drug deals were seen taking place from the vehicle.

“Police arrested a 25-year-old Vancouver resident for drug trafficking, and found $705 in cash and 3.5 grams of cocaine. The man was released to appear in court on October 27 to face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and flight from police.”

All of the accused are known to police for drug and/or criminal code related offences.
