Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, July 5, Houghton Road will be closed between Nickel and Hollywood roads for construction of the Houghton Road multi-use corridor.
Completion of this project is expected by October 2010.
Houghton Road will be open to local residents only.
Detours will be marked along the route and traffic personnel will be on site directing motorists.
Visitors to Ben Lee Park are asked to use the north parking lot located off of McPhee Street.
The 1.1 kilometre project will feature construction of a 4.0 metre wide multi-use pathway on the south side of Houghton Road with a landscaped boulevard constructed on both sides of the pathway.
The $2.4 million project was awarded to Hayter Construction. Focus Engineering is the administrator.
The project is funded in part by the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund City of Kelowna’s contribution is $800,000.
The City of Kelowna thanks residents, businesses and motorists for their patience during this important infrastructure improvement.
