Former Kelowna Rocket and Olympic gold medalist Shea Weber is giving back to the community.
Weber, through the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, has donated $10,000 to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.
KGH Foundation Executive Director, Sarah Nelems, says Weber was given an opportunity to designate a $10,000 grant to any organization.
"He plays in Nashville and could have donated that money to any charity and he chose our foundation. It shows he hasn't forgotten his roots," says Nelems of Weber, who grew up in Sicamous.
"He also continues to support the KGH Foundation every year by taking part in the annual Kelowna Rockets Charity Golf Tournament."
"Kelowna General Hospital saves lives," says Weber.
"There's no more important organization for this donation to go to."
