Good news for Mission area commuters.
Gordon Drive from Lanfranco to Cook roads re-opened to traffic Thursday morning.
The first phase of the $2.6-million Gordon Drive transportation improvements included construction of centre turn lanes, an additional northbound lane, a one kilometre four-metre wide off-road multi-use pathway on the east side of Gordon Drive, a signalized intersection at Cook Road, street lighting and sidewalk with boulevard and landscaping between Casorso and Lanfranco Roads.
The second phase, scheduled to begin in spring 2010, will see a new four-lane bridge over Mission Creek and the Greenway. Mission Creek Greenway users will have continuous access under the bridge without crossing Gordon Drive. The road widening will extend south to Lexington Drive.
